AGPtEK A12 MP3 Player Review

Are you looking for an MP3 Player with clip on back? Do you like to listen to music on the go? Today we Review the newest sport MP3 player made by AGPtEK: It is AGPtEK A12 8GB Portable MP3 player with clip on back, and it looks very similar to SanDisk Clip Line in terms of outside design.

AGPtEK A12 ReviewDesign and Build Quality
AGPtEK A12 comes with an “OLED” Display screen, which is much better than “TFT” display screens, because OLED technology preserves more battery. It comes with 8GB of internal storage, which can hold up to 4000 songs when adding a Micro SD card and it has an FM Radio with presets.

AGPtEK A12 has a small clip on the back of the device so you can mount it anywhere easily, which is suitable for all kinds of outdoor sports. By looking to the shape of the clip and how it is connected to the unit, I don’t think it would break easily.

This digital audio player feels good in hand, and not cheap as some other digital audio players, also it’s lightweight because it’s made of plastic; it weighs 0.79Oz – 22g which is almost the same weight as Sansa Clip+. It feels like a good quality.

AGPtEK A12 has 5 facing buttons: Menu, Back, Next/Forward, Previous/Rewind and a Play/Pause button in the middle.

On the right side of the device, there is a sliding On/Off button, which is safe and will not be pushed accidentally. On the left side there is a dedicated volume buttons Up/Down, unlike some other DAPs, where you have to click the V (volume) button, then increase or decrease volume using navigation buttons. Just below the volume buttons there is a Micro SD slot which can be used to expand the memory up to 32GB.

On the upper side of AGPtEK A12 there is a 3.5mm headphone port and Micro USB port for charging and transferring songs to the MP3 player, which is easy just drag and drop, no iTunes needed.

Sound Experience

AGPtEK A12 Earphone Review

Since AGPtEK A12 MP3 player supports both lossy and lossless formats (MP3, WAV, APE, WMA and FLAC) the sound experience is very good, especially when paired with good quality headphones, because the one that came with it in the box are neither comfortable nor good quality.

So if you are a regular user of MP3 players or new to the sounding experience, you could find the earphones to be okay, and there is no hurry to change them. But, if you are a music enthusiast and you care about sound quality, you’ll have to pair them with good quality headphones like Ailihen SE-01 which costs about $12 on Amazon or something even cooler.

For an MP3 player that costs less than $30, AGPtEK A12 produces crystal clear sound, and you have the ability to enhance the sound produced, by choosing different modes (Funk, Bass, Hip-Hop, Rock…) in the Equalizer settings.

When listening to the FM radio the sound is great and very clear on all the stations, Just keep in mind that the earphones are used as antennas. So as long as the earphone is on the ears and not hidden somewhere, you should be able to enjoy all your favorite FM stations clearly.

AGPtEK Battery LifeAGPtEK A12 has a very competitive battery life, it comes with 280 mAh built-in rechargeable battery, which will translate to 30-35 hours of playtime, based on the level of volume: When the volume is set high it consumes much battery, and when the volume is low it consumes less.

3-4 hours will fully charge the device, and 2 hour charge will give you up to 80%.

The OLED display preserves battery, and when you leave the MP3 player unattended it will enter into sleep mode.

To charge the battery faster and efficiently, you may want to consider a wall outlet adapter. Personally, I use my iPhone’s wall charger to charge my devices and it works like charm.

AGPtEK A12 is a sleek as the Clip+ is and Clip Zip was, light, compact and have better battery life.

Overall, we truly like this little MP3 player and its feature from the FM Radio to the 35 hours battery life, and that fact that it’s great value for money.

I am learning foreign language and need to play TWO FOLDERS in mp3 player’s memory as alternative, nothing of gender, artist, album and so on.
Would you please give me a good advice in this case?

    Thank you in advance:)

I’ll add one more con to that list, and something that is not mentioned in the ‘sound experience’

Gapless Playback of mp3s. it doesn’t do it. (to be fair, most mp3 players don’t)

for people like myself that listen to albums this is an important feature. many classic rock albums have tracks that merge from one into the next, (just about anything Pink Floyd, Arcade Fires Surburbia are two examples that spring to mind – but there are many others too)

my old sandisk clip with rockbox firmware does play gapless mp3. finding ones that do this hard, I wish the many reviews of these things would test for this capability.

I have an AGPtek water resistant mp3 player. I left the charging cord in Florida so I contacted the company and they told me I had to order a compatible charger from Amazon.I did this but the mp3 player doesn’t charge, the light doesn’t go on like it should, and my Lenovo laptop doesn’t even acknowledge that it is plugged in. I feel I should go back and buy another Divers mp3 player as this does not work after only 10 months. Customer service lists two telephone numbers one of which never answered, while the other one was a wrong number. What gives with this company!

Try to use another USB cable if the problem is still on, then there must be something wrong with the device itself.
You can check our article about Best Waterproof MP3 Players, we haven’t included any of AGPtEK’s MP3 players in that list, but you have variety from waterproof MP3 players you can choose.
